That is our theme for the New Year here on the Tech Floor and we have found plenty of opportunities to create a “New You” that don’t involve dieting and working out!  The New Year is a time for reflection and for creating changes that will positively impact our lives.  How about adding “learn something new” to your resolution list this year and be rewarded both personally and professionally?

In January & February 2010, here are a few classes that will give you the opportunity to create a “New You” in the New Year.  Click on the links for dates & times or to register.

May you have a happy, healthy & prosperous 2010!

Technology ~ it takes you there

It’s fall and though we can’t feel the difference in temperature or humidity yet, we do have a full schedule of classes again. On October 2, we have a brand-new class, Discover Facebook. Perhaps you have heard of Facebook and thought it was just for kids…but it really isn’t! A Facebook account is a great way to find and catch up with old friends from high school or college. If you are interested in starting an account, join us October 2 at 6:30 pm and we will help you do just that!

On October 21 at 10:00 am, we have another new class: Photo-editing with Picasa.  Picasa is a free program that enables you to organize, edit and share your photographs. It is super-easy to learn so come out and give it a try!

Other classes this month include:

  • Basic Computer Skills Tuesday October 7 10:00 am -12:00 pm
  • More Basic Skills Thursday, October 9 10:00 am -12:00 pm
  • Microsoft Excel Thursday, October 23 and 30 10:00 am -12:00 pm (this is a 2-day class)
In November, we will be offering more classes, though the schedule is not out yet. Is there something you would like to see taught? Leave me a comment…I’m always looking for new ideas.
See you in class!

We have a couple of brand-new classes coming up in the next few weeks. First on October 2 at 6:30 pm, our newest reference librarian, Britta, will be teaching a Facebook class. So if you have heard about Facebook and are curious, think it might be fun to give it a try or already have an account and just want to see what else you can do with it, come on down…

On October 21 at 10:00 am, we are offering a class on Picasa. Picasa is a free, online photo-editing program and provides a great place to store and edit your photos.

On October 23 and 30 (10:00-12:00 pm) there will be a two-part class on Microsoft Excel. This class will go over all the basics on setting up a spread sheet including creating formulas.

We only have room for 8 people and there is no sign-up procedure for any of these classes, so if you are interested, try to be here about 15 minutes before the start of class. You can keep track of the programs and classes we offer here at the library by checking our website

See you in class!!!
